QUESTION (from EFTA Forums): Do you have an estimate on how many vertical feet of climbing there is? What is the technical level of the course, novice, sport or expert?

ANSWER: There is not much climbing and it is not too technical, overall.
Since it is a time trial, the technical level might be almost Sport, given the intensity of the event and the conditions.
The main yellow dot trail is mostly rolling single track with some switchback sections and a few short rock fields. There are maybe five or six climbs at most, none of which are more than probably 50 or 75 feet of rise. A couple last for a quarter mile at most. A couple are only 100 linear feet or less, but more steep.
There is a 1.5 mile section, about 1.2 miles in, that bucks off to the left and goes down to the pond. The return is a soft doubletrack climb back to the main trail and will grind racers down some.
The main trail is pretty rooty and the recent rains/snow have not helped the trail in that respect. There are a couple of stream crossings, too.
The trail will come out onto paved roads twice for about a quarter mile each time.
The final section is a mudbog grind that starts out flat and gradually rises for about a half mile.
Overall the trail is a blast!

Conditions are drying out nicely (as of 3-25), but it looks like maybe some rain the week and/or even day before the race.

QUESTION (from MTBR Forums): “…so from the parking lot, which way is the right way?”

ANSWER: Course goes counterclockwise, left out of the beach parking lot.
Follow Prosser Trail (a road), merge with King's Factory road and cut into the yellow dot rail at the top of the hill, on the left. About 1.25 miles in, it heads down to the pond and back up to the yellow dot on a dirt road (you will see a big wire down on it).
You hit the road twice and ride it both times (2nd time you can go back onto covered bridge/yellow dot trail, but the race course goes up the road). The 2nd time goes up the hill for .3 miles and cuts back in on the left across from the beige mailbox.
Race ends at the end of the long muddy grind where there is a wooden kiosk and you hit the paved campground roads.
To get back to the Beach Parking Lot, go straight up the road through two rotaries and through the playground, then follow the dirt road along the pond.
Seeyas Sunday!
